Review. Hiking in Turkey «Lycian trail and Cappadocia»

Translated from Russian

Organization

In general, the organization was good. I took off one star for two reasons
1) When we asked if we are going on a hike for the first time in our life, is this program suitable for us, the answer was "yes". But in the end, he didn't seem like that to us and it was very difficult on certain days. For experienced tourists with the necessary physical training, it may be easy, but we clarified that we are going for the first time. I believe that the organizers should have warned about the difficulties that we may face, since we are newcomers and had no idea where we were going. Perhaps after explaining, we would choose a different program for the first time.
2) I did not understand the organization of some days of the route. Namely, why the mileage stated in the description of the days on the site did not coincide with reality. And Stas on the spot could not tell exactly the kilometers. Always the guys in the group who measured their walking, turned out to be several kilometers more than stated. I would like to understand what to count on, it would be more comfortable for me to go.
2) Why is there no organized watch during the trip? It would be fair to prescribe in the rules in advance and then give the guide the right to control the alternating watch of the participants. Someone in our group washed a common pot almost every day and went to fetch firewood, and someone even never touched these boilers. It is not very comfortable to point out to each other and arrange a showdown, who should what between the participants. But if the organizers prescribed this as a marching rule, then all participants would be warned and ready for this, and the guide would only have to draw up a schedule and tell everyone when it is his turn. This, personally, was not enough for me.

Food

The food suited me completely for the first 5 days, everything was delicious and varied. For this, three stars.
I removed one star for the fact that there was no approach to the vegetarian menu. That is, they asked in advance if there were any peculiarities in food. I warned both the organizer in advance and the guide on the spot on the first day that I do not eat meat and fish. I was expecting some CHANGE of products from the organizers. But in the end, me and another person in the group just poured the food first (without meat) and then added meat / fish to the common pot. And it would be a great way out of the situation if we were offered some more addition. Canned beans or chickpeas, dried mushrooms, a single piece of cheese for vegetarians ... Options can be found. But the organizers preferred us to just under-report those foods that we don't eat. That is, in fact, the payment was taken in the same amount as from people who ate sausage, dried meat, canned tuna, only I got less food, since there was no alternative to the above products.
The second star was removed for the fact that I liked the food for the first 5 days, I did not like 6-7-8 days for the following reasons:
- in the description it is indicated that three meals a day on trekking, as I thought, means all days before leaving for Antalya and moving to Cappadocia, that is, the first 8 days + 1 breakfast on the 9th day of the transition to Tekkirova. As a result, on the 6th and 7th day we had lunch in a cafe (and it was not a choice, but simply faced with the fact that today we are having lunch on our own in institutions). If you have three meals a day not all days of trekking, then do not write about it in the description.
- also, starting from the 6th day, dried vegetables ended, which were for me at least some kind of addition to cereals. And in the end, as a vegetarian, I ate just empty porridge with ketchup, or pasta with ketchup and that's it. While there was still a lot of dried meat, everyone else's porridge was not "naked". In the first 5 days, I at least took cheese as an addition to the side dishes, but in the last 3 days of tracking it was not. The distribution and planning of products, in my opinion, should have been given more attention.

Instructor - Stanislav Muzyria

Our instructor was Stas, in general I was comfortable with him. He educated on all the questions of equipment and hikes that we asked, gave advice. Always helped where needed. On the second day of the hike, it was difficult for me to walk along the canyon and in a difficult place on a narrow path, where I almost cried :) but he calmly and most tolerantly helped me to pass)))) Also, when my knee hurt, he helped to bandage and was interested in the next days as a state of health.

General opinion

The overall impression of the trip was good. The Lycian trail and Cappadocia are beautiful, nature is striking in its beauty, I would advise everyone to visit this route at least once, but not as the first in life, but at least the third or second, after you go to some lighter one and get there hiking experience and dexterity. Since in our opinion (beginners), this is an average level, judging by the sensations, and not easy, as indicated on the site by the gradation of professionals. Or we advise you to at least choose not September, as we do, since it was still hot at that time; at some stops there was no water due to drying out. These circumstances added additional difficulties and the trip became more difficult for us.

Response of administration

Thank you for your feedback, such reviews help us improve the service.
Regarding your comments:
1. The difficulty level of the route is indicated as initial / intermediate, beginners often pass it with us, but you need to prepare for the route (as it is written on the website, which we remind in advance in the chat before the hike). Perhaps it was more difficult for you because of the abnormal heat, which was the first time in our practice.
2. The mileage on the site is indicated with a margin (that is, in fact, the route is a little shorter), discrepancies with trackers and pedometers are usually due to the fact that they work all day and record not only movement along the route, but also fees in the camp, deviations from route, etc.
3. We have no shifts, everything is handled by an instructor who is voluntarily assisted by the participants. The instructor may ask you to do something (for example, collect firewood, or bring water), but this is not required.
4. Vegetarians often go with us and we must replace meat products with cheese. Apparently, this is a defect of the instructor, we will have a conversation with him and this will not happen again.
5. The tour description states that meals in cafes / restaurants are not included in the tour price. We will correct the description so that there are no more questions.
